Angered by a love marriage in Bhagalpur, a father shot dead his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. This incident was carried out by the father and brother of the deceased. Both the accused are absconding after the incident. The incident took place in Navtolia village under Gopalpur police station area of Navgachia. The deceased have been identified as Chandan Kumar (42), son of Ganesh Prasad Singh, Chandan’s wife Chanda Kumari (25) and Chandan’s daughter Roshni Kumari (1.5 years).
Chandan had come to see his sick mother.
Regarding the incident, the deceased’s elder brother Kedarnath said that Chandan was the youngest among the six brothers. In 2021, he eloped and married Chanda, daughter of Pappu Singh of the same village. He also had a one and a half year old daughter. A month ago my mother Balika Devi fell ill. On getting information about this, Chandan started coming home often with his family and then used to go away together. In the same sequence, today again he came home with his wife and daughter. As soon as he started leaving after meeting his parents, Pappu Singh suddenly attacked him. During this, Chanda started defending herself, in which Pappu Singh also started attacking Chanda with a rod. By then Pappu Singh’s son came there with a weapon and shot Danadan Chandan, his wife Chanda and one and a half year old girl. In this incident, all three died on the spot.
Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused
Regarding the incident, Navgachia SP Sushant Kumar Saroj said that the accused Pappu Singh works as a mason. He was working in a house at the time of the incident. As soon as he saw Chandan, he suddenly attacked him. By then Pappu Singh’s son also reached there and shot all three. SP says that by the time the police reached the spot on the information of family members, both the accused had fled from there. Two teams have been formed to arrest him. At present the police is conducting raids to arrest both the accused.
